J Kelly Crowell - President
The premium audit industry is a subject Kelly knows well, having started in the mailroom at Atwell, Vogel and Sterling during a high school work-study program in the late 1970's. After attending Lubbock Christian College, he went to work as an audit reviewer with Crum and Forster in Dallas. In 1982, he joined his father's business, Crowell & Associates, Inc. where he began his career in the premium audit industry. Over the years, Kelly has not only been involved in the training of staff auditors; he also develops and has conducted numerous workshops and corporate game shows for agents, insured's, associations, and insurance companies.
In the past, he served fifteen years as an officer with the Insurance Auditors Association of Dallas; and nearly twenty years as an officer for the Insurance Auditors Association of the Southwest and served two terms as President. He served twenty years on the board of National Society of Insurance Premium Auditors, holding multiple positions from the Administrative Assistant to the President. He has received the Auditor of the Year award for the Dallas and Southwest Associations, the President's Choice Award from the IAASW, the Betty Gerdes Award from NSIPA, as well as the President's Award from NSIPA. Kelly has produced a cartoon called AuditEd for the NSIPA Newsline.
Kelly's favorite thing to do is spending time with his wife and kids (Alesha, Kennedy, Drake and Charlee) and family pets. They take a very active role in their church. They enjoy entertaining in their home, from small dinner parties to large gatherings. Their hobbies include landscape and gardening around their property, collecting old memorabilia, photography, attending concerts, plays, movies, and Dallas Mavericks basketball games.
