Laura Thompson - Manager

Laura has been involved in the premium audit industry since the spring of 1979, after graduating with a BBA-Economics from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. Laura began her premium audit career as a field auditor with Crum & Forster Insurance Companies in 1979 in Dallas and Austin. While with C&F, Laura learned the ins and the outs of the premium audit process, one of her fondest memories being the week as a trainee that she stated to not one, but two separate business owners, how great it must be to "work for yourself" and the almost word-for-word tutorial that she received from both men explaining the life of a business owner. In addition to learning that there are some topics that do NOT put the policyholder at ease, that was the moment that Laura entered the real world of business and the insurance industry. As if that wasn't education enough, 13 years later, Laura joined the Premium Audit management team of Texas Mutual Insurance Company in Austin, where as a Senior Manager she continued her involvement with all aspects of the premium audit function as it interacts with policyholders, agents, regulatory bodies and the many related departments within the insurance carrier. In 2004, Laura joined the management team of Crowell & Associates, Inc., bringing with her an understanding and appreciation of the importance of the highest level of professionalism, customer service and quality as it relates to the premium audit function. As a member of management, one of Laura's responsibilities is her involvement in the continuing development of the auditor training program and its implementation with the audit staff in Texas and Louisiana, as well as assisting with customer relations. Her firm belief is that every day a person should expect to learn something new, whether you plan to or not. The key is to implement what you have learned, whether professionally or personally. Laura has obtained the premium audit industry Associate of Premium Audit (APA) designation and is a member of the Insurance Auditors Association of the Southwest. In her free time, Laura enjoys being with her family and anything that involves sunshine and fresh air, which luckily is pretty easy to find in Austin.
